I Took Down My Crochet Braids!

hair after taking down crochet braids.

Hey everyone,
yep it was that time to take down the crochet braids as you can see they looked good for along time! I had them in sense Dec. 4, 2012 all the way til Feb 5, 2013!! They went above and beyond the goals I had set. It's true to leave it alone. No fussing and bustling with the hair and it will last I PROVED IT! I took the last picture of myself before taking down the crochet braids, and how good they still looks.

I wanted to make a blog to share with you how to take it down, I did a video but somehow my computer and editing software that came with camera isn't acting right I can't edit the video. I decided to takes pic clips from the video to show how I took out the crochet braids.

tools you'll need to do this is:
Scissors,
plastic bag
Hair clips
ponytail holders
rat tail comb
Big comb

I sectioned off hair that I'm working with first, then cut the crochet braid hair short enough to where I'm not cutting my own hair. It's easier to deal with being short (crochet hair that is) LOL. I continue to cut until all the crochet hair is cut short all over my head.

How hair looks after all been cut

There's 2 ways to take them down.
1st method: I  can pick each strand out one by one from the cornrows
2nd method: to take down each cornrow and the hair will come out while I'm taking it down.

me showing how I'm taking it down
I did both methods. It depend on the hair, some came out easier with me pulling it from the cornrow, some I had to wait and take out when taking the cornrow down.
taking down braid and removing hair
I was glad when I was all done, but I will be doing this is a style that I will do again!! no doubt. I'm not sure when. Picture is at top on how my hair looked when I was done doing braids. I hope  you enjoyed. Have a blessed one.

Patronize the Black Owned Business for Black History Month

Hello,
How are you, I came up with a idea to list all the black owned business ( BOB) that I know of, did a video to shout them out. That way it would be great for the Black History Month to buy something at those business instead of shopping elsewhere. Even though  I think that every month, year, hour, second, etc no matter what time a day or year it is, you need to know your history. Just because they ( the calendar makers) decides when it's Black History Month, doesn't mean that you don't have to start learning about Black History only in February.

I encourage all my black sisters and brothers, boys and girls to:

LEARN YOUR HISTORY!! KNOW WHERE YOU CAME FROM AND WHERE YOU'RE GOING!

There's so much to learn, that kids are not being taught or told in these schools! But they will send us as parents to jail if we don't have our kids going to school. Why send them when what they're being taught don't interest them? Mine is going to know, I made it up in my mind to show and tell my son where he came from, and to let him know what's the real. Please let your kids know the truth! I mean the real truth. It's on net, books, it's easy to come up on. It's sites on the net. It's out there, you have to search, find, read, or watch, and learn!! The first book you can start off with is the

 HOLY BIBLE!!!! Real Talk..

I would like to see a school just for black kids, to learn our/their history NO OTHER! NO OFFENSE but they are learning enough of that already and it don't interest them! It's time to switch the game. Someone stand up for the black generation.

Ok, getting back to the root of the story!! I decided to make a video shout out to all the BOB that I know of, and share them with you all so you can patronize them for the month of February, and hopes that they will have a life long customer.

Here's the link to the video,  and I hope that you will make a purchase with one of these companies within this month. to show support to our own brothers and sisters and family and friends.

The businesses that I know of, are in the description box of the video,

Hope you enjoyed, God Bless
Trecey

Health Benefits of Chamomile

What is Chamomile?

Chamomile is an herb that comes from a flowering plant from the daisy family. Both the fresh and dried flowers of chamomile have been used to create teas for centuries to cure a number of health problems. The active ingredient in chamomile essential oil is known as bisabolol, which has a number of anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial properties.

What are the Benefits of Chamomile?

Chamomile can be used topically or orally to treat a number of everyday ailments, such as:
  • Insomnia and other sleep disorders
  • Anxiety and Panic Attacks
  • Muscle twitches
  • Wounds, burns, and scrapes
  • Skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, chickenpox, and diaper rash
  • Stomach problems such as menstrual cramps, stomach flu, and ulcers

Uses of Chamomile

Home Remedy for Stomach Cramps

Chamomile has been found to contain fairly strong antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory constituents. Therefore, it has been found to be effective in treating stomach and intestinal cramps. Simply prepare a cup of Chamomile tea following the directions on the package and drink it twice a day until while symptoms are present (one cup first thing in the morning, and one in the evening).

Home Remedy for Insomnia

Chamomile is wonderful remedy for sleep disorders such as insomnia. Simply make a chamomile tea 30 to 45 minutes before going to bed to treat sleeplessness.

Home Remedy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Chamomile reduces cramping and pain in the bowels and also helps to relieve excessive gas and bloating in the intestines. Therefore, a simple remedy is to drink a cup of chamomile tea to help relieve irritable bowel syndrome, nausea, and gastroenteritis or stomach flu.

Home Remedy for Migraine Headaches

Chamomile is a wonderful cure for migraines. Take a cup of tea when you start noticing the symptoms of a migraine headache. It works best if you take it before the headache actually gets severe.

Home Remedy for Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and Menstrual Cramps

Drinking chamomile tea has been found to be beneficial in treating PMS and Menstrual Cramps

Using Chamomile to Treat Burns and Scrapes

Chamomile oil is very useful in treating bad burns. Simple rub a small amount of oil gently across the burned area once a day. For scrapes and burns you can also brew a strong concoction by adding 3 tea bags to one cup of boiling water. When the water cools, dip a cloth into it and use it as a compress on the wounded area.

Lightening Skin Using Chamomile

Chamomile has been found to be advantageous for lightening your skin tone. Simply bring two quarts of water to a boil with 2 chamomile tea bags in it. Then place your face above the steaming pot of chamomile tea. A bath in water mixed with chamomile tea works too.

Reducing Dark Circles Around Eyes

Chamomile tea has been found to help relieve eye fatigue and dark circles. A simple remedy is to dip 2 chamomile tea bags in warm water. After 5 minutes, remove the tea bags from the water and let them cool to room temperature. Then place them on your eyes at night as a compress.

What are the Side Effects of Chamomile?

As with all herbal products, moderation is the key to avoiding adverse reactions. Some of the potential side effects of chamomile include drowsiness, so use it with caution if you are driving or operating machinery. High doses of chamomile can also cause vomiting and/or skin reactions in some individuals. If you are allergic to ragweed pollen or have hayfever, you may have difficulty using chamomile.

Using chamomile during pregnancy is not recommended, since it is considered to be an abortifacient (a substance that induces abortion). Chamomile is also not recommended if you are currently taking blood thinners, since chamomile contains a substance called coumarin (which is also a blood thinner).

Where and How to Buy Chamomile

Chamomile can be bought as dried flower heads, an infusion (tea), liquid extract, essential oil, tinctures (concentrated in alcohol), and in creams and ointments. Tea bags are the most common form and can be found at many mainstream grocery stores and pharmacies.

Crochet Braids Documentary

So they say it wouldn't last I had to prove them wrong.

This style is the bomb!! Don't let no one fool you.

Sense doing this style, I've did what I call it a documentary by taking pictures within this month December, 2012, so you can see how these braids and hair look within a week's time. If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, I know you have seen me posting up new picture, this was the reason for doing it. No, I wasn't going nuts or being conceited or modest but I have to say I took some nice pics :)

I did a video showing how I did this style and what hair I used to do it with, the style was done on Dec 1st.

after filming this video, I had many to request a video sharing what I do to keep this hair looking good, and what product do I use etc. I filmed another video explaining all that for them. Please watch if you're interested in installing these braids and this kind of hair.

So after filming both of these videos, I wanted to do this picture documentary to show you how the hair keeps, I said my rule of thumb is " the less manipulation you do with this hair the better off it is". I still says the same. because I've did less manipulation to prove a point. In video, I said I uses a wig spray to give hair it's shine etc and etc, but for the past 4 weeks, I didn't use it at all!! The hair is still nice curly and very shiny.  I've had to cut of less frizzes this time also.

Here's the picture collage I did to show how the hair looks from Week 1 to wk 4:

In this picture, the hair still looks the same as the 1st day putting it in. within the 3 week my edges are starting to loosen up from the cornrow braids that are in my hair, and I have to start laying them down so it want look unattractive. Other than that, the crochet braid hair is just fine.
I'm planning on keeping this up for about a week or 2 before taking it down, it's time to shampoo hair.
I wanted to bring this to you to show this hair can last, and will look good too. If you try the crochet braids, let me know how it worked for you.

Have a blessed day, Oh Happy New Year!!
